The Middle East Region Holds a Unique Place in Armenia's Foreign Policy Agenda: Foreign Ministry

The Middle East region holds a unique place in the foreign policy agenda of the Republic of Armenia. In this context, the year 2023 has been marked by several significant events.

Minister Mirzoyan visited Egypt, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. Notably, for the first time since Armenia's independence, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs participated in a ministerial-level meeting of the League of Arab States.

It is worth noting that Minister Mirzoyan's visit to Syria, specifically to the cities of Damascus and Aleppo, took place after the devastating earthquake on February 6, during which the minister conveyed humanitarian aid provided by the Armenian government.

Among other international agreements, a memorandum was signed on the mutual abolition of visa requirements for citizens of Armenia and the United Arab Emirates, which will come into effect soon, on February 1.

Minister Mirzoyan also held meetings on multilateral platforms with the foreign ministers of Jordan, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia, as well as with the secretaries-general of the League of Arab States and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Diplomatic relations were established between Armenia and Saudi Arabia.

Throughout the year, political consultations took place at the level of deputy foreign ministers of Oman and Tunisia, co-chaired by Deputy Minister Vahan Kostanyan.
