Sanosyan on the Goal of Increasing Solar Power Capacity to 1500 Megawatts
The successes achieved in the solar energy sector in recent years are encouraging for the Armenian government. This was stated by Gnel Sanosyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia.
“All the indicators we have set are not only met but often exceeded. We are pursuing quite encouraging policies regarding the installation of solar energy equipment, and it is yielding results. Our strategy aims to increase the capacity of solar power plants to 1500 megawatts,” Sanosyan announced.
He also emphasized the importance of the process to double the extension of the nuclear power plant's operation. The minister noted that the goal is to extend the operational license of the power plant for another 10 years, pushing it from 2026 to 2036. He reminded that during this time, in parallel with the operation, they are planning to have a new nuclear energy block.
“The program for the underwater cable continues to be of great interest to us, and we are working with partner countries to ensure that Armenia becomes a participant in this program,” he concluded.
