This Is Called a 'Family Photo': Presidents Refuse to Pose with Lukashenko
The presidents of Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland boycotted a group photo with Lukashenko at the summit. Presidents Gitanas Nausėda, Edgars Rinkēvičs, and Andrzej Duda declined to be photographed with their Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko during the UN Global Climate Action Summit in Dubai.
“It would be hypocritical to stand shoulder to shoulder with the leader of a state that has become a launch pad for Russian aggression against Ukraine and discuss the future of the world and climate change, which would lead nowhere,” Nausėda commented on his refusal.
He added that this is called a “family photo,” and Lukashenko is “part of the family we do not want to belong to.”
