VIDEO: Garik Karapetyan Becomes Champion at World Youth Weightlifting Championship
The Armenian youth weightlifting team has concluded its participation in the World Championship held in Guadalajara, Mexico. The last member of our team to compete on the platform was the European champion Garik Karapetyan, who competed in the men's 102 kg weight category.
In the snatch event, Garik secured a gold medal with a result of 175 kg, and in the clean and jerk event, he achieved the same result by lifting a barbell weighing 203 kg. Consequently, he earned the gold medal in the total with a combined lift of 378 kg.
Thus, the Armenian youth weightlifting team claimed three gold medals at the World Championship. Considering the results in individual events, our team has a total of 7 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Notably, Aleksandra Grigoryan and Gor Sahakyan were also crowned world champions.
