Penalize for Not Following Seatbelt Regulations: Arsen Torosyan to the Ministry of Internal Affairs
“I have formally addressed the Minister of Internal Affairs below.” This was stated by Arsen Torosyan, the former Minister of Health of Armenia and a member of the National Assembly from the ruling party, on his Facebook page.
“Dear Mr. Ghazaryan, it is visibly apparent that currently there is a widespread violation of seatbelt regulations by drivers and passengers of vehicles. Furthermore, it appears that the Police Patrol Service exhibits a lenient attitude towards this violation, which is unacceptable, as being unbuckled during accidents significantly increases the risk of serious injury or fatality.
The widespread nature of this infraction has become particularly obvious after ensuring compliance with the transparency of the front side windows of vehicles,” he wrote, adding, “I kindly request and suggest that you establish a deadline after which the Police Patrol Service will no longer show tolerance towards unbuckled drivers and passengers. Additionally, public awareness initiatives should be implemented so that no driver can claim ignorance of the fact that they will be fined for these violations, despite the reality that there has never been a repeal of this legal requirement. I also request you to instruct the Police Patrol Service to exercise strict control over these violations after this deadline.”
