A New Bridge to Be Built Between Iran and Armenia, Says Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development
Iran and Armenia have held discussions regarding the construction of a new border bridge. This announcement was made by the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, during the opening ceremony of the signing of the investment program document for the North-South Corridor.
According to Bazrpash, the current bridge on the Iran-Armenia border is insufficient to handle the large volume of cargo transit. "We have agreed to form a working group regarding the construction of the bridge and will begin discussions for its construction," he stated.
Bazrpash emphasized that this initiative could contribute to the development of economic relations between Armenia and Iran. It also pertains to the implementation of other projects in the infrastructure sector. At the same time, he added that Iranian companies are ready to assist the Armenian side in various projects. "Any Armenian company that is willing to engage in housing and road construction in Iran will receive our full support," he stated.
It is noteworthy that the current bridge between Armenia and Iran was built in 1995 over the Araks River.
