Exercises Are a Pretext to Deploy Turkish Heavy Weaponry in Nakhichevan and Artsakh, Turkologist Says
From October 23-25, joint Turkish-Azerbaijani military exercises will take place in Azerbaijan. This was reported on Telegram by the Turkologist Varoujan Geghamyan.
“Despite the significant increase in the number of joint bilateral and multilateral exercises, which in itself is a telling fact, the location where these exercises will occur is crucial—Nakhichevan and the occupied regions of Artsakh (specifically along the borders of the Republic of Armenia’s Syunik and Vayots Dzor provinces). It is also significant that, formally, the exercises are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, yet they are being conducted on Azerbaijani territory, which has seen the arrival of Turkish F-16s and helicopters. One should not rule out that this is yet another phase of preparation for a joint Turkish-Azerbaijani offensive on Syunik and Vayots Dzor, and that the exercises are merely a pretext to deploy Turkish heavy weaponry and aviation in Nakhichevan and occupied Artsakh,” wrote the Turkologist.
