VIDEO: Bicycles and Electric Vehicles to Navigate in Academic City as Concept Approved

The government has approved the concept of the "Academic City" project. Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan announced that the location designated for the academic city is near the 17th district and the territory of "Hayfilm," totaling around 700 hectares. She stated, "The main site will be the area adjacent to the 17th district, and we will address the 'Hayfilm' area as needed according to the master plan."

The minister noted that up to 16 higher education institutions will be located within the academic city, including up to 8 state universities and up to 8 international or private universities. "Mobility within the academic city will have special regulations, allowing for bicycles, electric transport, or other means. About 44,000 people will live and work there. To avoid unauthorized construction on nearby community or private lands, a more comprehensive development plan for the area will be established," she added.
