The So-Called ‘Zangezur Corridor’ Will Create Grounds for Extraregional Military Intervention, says Iran’s NSC Secretary
The creation of the so-called ‘Zangezur Corridor’ will create grounds for extraregional military forces to intervene and will lead to new crises in this strategic region. This was stated by Ali-Akbar Ahmadian, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), during a meeting with Khalaf Khalov, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan, as reported by Mehr.
According to him, actions that cause geopolitical changes in the region, such as proposals regarding the ‘Zangezur Corridor’ from other players, will not benefit the countries of this region and will provide grounds for extraregional military intervention. Furthermore, these actions will inevitably lead to new crises in this strategic area.
Ahmadian also stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is categorically opposed to any initiative that would lead to changes in the region's geopolitical landscape.
