Vardan Ghukasian Sets New Condition for Haik Marutyan: 'Come, Give Me One Third, and I Will Boycott'
The leader of the 'Public Voice' party, Vardan Ghukasian, has responded to Haik Marutyan's statement: 'If Haik Marutyan had agreed to give us that one administration in time, we would have reached an agreement, and this situation would not have arisen. The Public Voice can boycott and not attend the session if someone like you comes, sits, you and Tevanyan publicly sign an agreement with me that I choose you, if every third mayor is to be mine. Previously, I only wanted the head of administration, and now every third is mine. Sit down, sign with me that I will boycott the session. Don’t throw stray remarks at me; if you had said yes in time, Artak Galstyan would have resigned his mandate, and Urikhanyan would have too. You have 10 days; come, sit, give me one third, and I will boycott.'
Earlier, Yerevan mayoral candidate Haik Marutyan had announced that they are boycotting the first session of the Council and moving towards new elections. 'Since the first two council members of the Public Voice party, Artak Galstyan who is in custody and Tigran Ulihanian who is on the wanted list, cannot physically attend the first session, it means there will be five votes instead of their party’s seven. Therefore, there cannot be an elected opposition mayor. The only option left is to proceed to new elections for the Yerevan Council. We will not be present at the session, so it is derailed. The 'Mother Armenia' alliance has also announced that it will not participate. Only the stance of the Public Voice remains.'
