Drivers with license plates featuring zeros or repeated numbers will not have administrative advantages, says Ministry of Interior
A draft law proposing amendments to the law on ensuring road traffic safety suggests the introduction of a new type of registration plate characterized by special demand. The sale of these plates will exclusively take place through electronic auctions. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan during a session of the National Assembly.
“According to the draft, the Government will establish criteria for registration plates of special demand, while the Ministry of Internal Affairs will set the starting auction prices based on these criteria,” she mentioned.
In his speech, ARF parliamentary faction member Arsen Torosyan urged that this initiative should not result in inequality. “People are usually willing to pay for their license plates, not just for personal preference, but to gain advantages over their peers in society. I ask the Ministry of Internal Affairs to pay attention to this issue as well to ensure it does not become a tool for inequality,” he stated.
In response to Torosyan's remarks, Arpine Sargsyan noted that drivers with license plates featuring zeros or repeated numbers will not have any administrative advantages.
