Borrell: 'The issue of suspending cooperation with Azerbaijan is not being discussed at this time'
The European Union is not considering the suspension of energy cooperation with Azerbaijan due to the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated today by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
“The freezing of the memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation signed with Azerbaijan on July 18, 2022, as part of the EU's diversification of energy sources, is not under discussion at this time. At the same time, the EU continues to explain to Baku the urgent need to resolve the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh,” Borrell noted, adding, “The lack of an adequate solution to this issue could have practical implications for Azerbaijan's relations with the EU.”
