Ousted Nigerian President Appeals for Assistance to the U.S.

Ousted Nigerian President Mohamed Bazoum has issued a call for assistance. He has appealed to the United States and the international community for help in restoring his authority.

“At this moment of our need, I call upon the U.S. government and the entire international community to assist us in restoring constitutional order. The only way to achieve meaningful progress in the fight against poverty and terrorism is to jointly uphold our common values, including respect for democratic pluralism and the rule of law,” Bazoum stated.

He warned that failure to restore power would result in devastating consequences for all.

It is worth noting that on the night of July 27, Nigerian military forces announced the removal of President Mohamed Bazoum from office, transferring power to the “National Council for the Rescue of the Fatherland,” while also closing borders, suspending the constitution, and banning the activities of any political party.
