Algeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Summons Danish and Swedish Diplomats Over Quran Burning Incident
Algeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it has summoned the Danish Ambassador and the Swedish Chargé d'Affaires to protest against the burning of the Quran in those countries. This was reported by РИА Новости.
“Following the incidents of Quran burning in Copenhagen and Stockholm, Algeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Danish Ambassador and the Swedish Chargé d'Affaires to inform them of Algeria's official protest and its strong condemnation of these immoral and undiplomatic actions,” the statement noted.
The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on the authorities of Denmark and Sweden to take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Previously, it became known that two members of the radical group Danske Patrioter (“Danish Patriots”) set the Quran on fire in front of the Iraqi embassy in the capital of Denmark. The organizer of the demonstration in Copenhagen trampled on the Quran and burned it on a tray next to the Iraqi flag lying on the ground.
