Reliable and Clear Guarantees for the Rights and Security of Artsakh Armenians Needed: Russian Representative at OSCE
Unfortunately, the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh is developing in a negative scenario, and the humanitarian crisis is deepening. This was stated by Alexander Lukashevich, Russia's permanent representative to the OSCE, during a speech at a special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council convened by Armenia. According to 1lurer.am,
“Immediate measures must be taken to unblock the Lachin corridor and to resume the unhindered movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargo in both directions, as well as to restore the region's energy supply. We also believe that in this context, the urgency of reaching a quick agreement on the text of the peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan is increasing based on the agreements reached.”
Lukashevich emphasized that an integral part of this agreement should be reliable and clear guarantees for the rights and security of the Armenians of Karabakh. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of the strict implementation of all provisions of the trilateral statements between Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, including the launch of the border demarcation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the unblocking of transport communications.
He reaffirmed Russia's commitment to actively contribute to the restoration of normal life in Nagorno-Karabakh and to advance the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement process.
“We are ready to organize a trilateral meeting of foreign ministers in Moscow in the near future to discuss the ways to implement high-level agreements, including the topic of agreement on the peace treaty, which will be followed by a trilateral summit in Moscow aimed at signing the aforementioned document,” concluded the diplomat.
