Iran's Parliament Speaker Urges Russia to Respect Its 'Red Lines'

Russia must understand that Iran's cooperation with its neighbors depends on the respect for the 'red lines' of the Iranian people, including sovereignty and territorial integrity, stated Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, according to Mehr.

According to Qalibaf, the Iranian Parliament categorically rejects the content of a joint statement between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regarding Iran's three islands.

Iran's cooperation with all legitimate governments is based on national interests and aligns with three principles of honor, appropriateness, and wisdom.

He also noted that Iran and Russia are two significant countries in the region developing and promoting cooperation across various sectors based on mutual interests. However, Russia must know that Iran's collaboration with its neighbors is contingent on maintaining the Iranian people's 'red lines,' including territorial integrity and sovereignty over the three islands in the Persian Gulf: Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb.

He further stated that Russia itself is a victim of Western and NATO's 'geopolitical expansionism' and should not 'aid the West in destabilizing the Persian Gulf region.'

Qalibaf emphasized that Iran is the only guarantor of stability in the Persian Gulf and will neutralize the West's dangerous plans in this sensitive area.

The three islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb have historically been part of Iran, with numerous historical, legal, and geographical documents available both in Iran and other parts of the world supporting this claim.
