NATO Will Invite Ukraine When Conditions Are Met: Stoltenberg
NATO will send an invitation to Ukraine to join the military alliance when its members agree and conditions are met. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference on Tuesday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously stated that it would be 'absurd' if NATO leaders did not offer a timeline for his country's membership.
In response to a question about Zelensky's criticism, Stoltenberg said, 'There has never been a stronger message from NATO, both in terms of the political message regarding membership and the concrete support from NATO allies.'
He noted that previous memberships were not accompanied by timelines, emphasizing, 'If you look at all the membership processes, there have never been timelines for those processes. They have always been based on conditions.'
