High-Level Negotiations with Armenia to Take Place Soon, Says Aliyev
High-level negotiations regarding a peace treaty with Armenia will take place in the coming days. This was announced by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. He also expressed hope for further "convergence of positions," according to Azerbaijani media reports.
"Our position on peaceful negotiations is clear and logical, based on international law. I believe that on the basis of these principles, norms, and principles of international law, a peace treaty can be signed. In any case, I believe there are such opportunities," said Aliyev.
According to him, the upcoming final phases of negotiations and high-level communications aim to "get even closer to a peace agreement."
"This is what we want; we are putting forward this initiative. However, I reiterate, not everything depends on us; the opposing side must also be prepared and must convey the principles stated in words to paper," Aliyev added.
He also emphasized the "positive progress in Armenia's position."
