Prigozhin Informed About Wagner's Withdrawal from Special Operation, Kartapolov Says

The founder of the Wagner private military company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, refused to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, after which he was notified about the cessation of his company's participation in the special military operation. This was announced to reporters on Thursday by Andrey Kartapolov, the chairman of the State Duma's Defense Committee. This information was reported by TASS.

Kartapolov reminded that a few days before the attempted rebellion, the Russian Ministry of Defense had stated that "all formations carrying out combat tasks must sign a contract with the ministry."

"And everyone started to implement this decision, a completely correct decision, everyone except Mr. Prigozhin," the lawmaker noted. According to him, "at that time, Prigozhin was informed that in this case, Wagner would not participate in the special military operation."

"That is, no funding or material resources would be allocated," Kartapolov specified. He also emphasized that "for Prigozhin, this is the main, if not the only thing."

"What happened was as follows: first, money; second, stupid and overly ambitious claims; third, an agitated state. All of this together led to treason and an attempt to deceive his combat comrades," Kartapolov said, discussing the reasons behind the attempted rebellion.
