Davith Tonoyan Proposed a Completely Different Format: Andranik Kocharyan on Rejecting the Former Minister of Defense's Proposal
Davith Tonoyan's proposal was not accepted because he suggested a completely different format, meaning that the investigative commission would be used to debate with Nikol Pashinyan. This was stated by Andranik Kocharyan, the Chairman of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee, in an interview with Petros Ghazaryan, discussing the format of the commission investigating the circumstances of the 44-day war.
“The investigative commission is not a debating environment. The investigative commission is also a platform endowed with serious constitutional powers,” Kocharyan said.
When asked if the format of the investigative commission was changed only for the Prime Minister, Kocharyan denied, noting that the format was not altered for Pashinyan. “Simply after discussions with the Prime Minister, we found that this tool should also be utilized,” Kocharyan added.
Regarding the observation that others have been invited to present in this format, the ruling party MP said, “We determine what level of confidentiality exists in the materials presented. In Mr. Pashinyan's presentation yesterday... he himself decided whether there exists any domain of confidentiality or not.”
