No Obstacles from the Armenian Government for Amulsar Exploitation: Babken Tunyan

The exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine also addresses security issues, as it involves international capital, which means it has a deterrent effect regarding border incidents. This opinion was shared by Babken Tunyan, deputy head of the National Assembly's Economic Affairs Permanent Committee and member of the ruling 'Civil Contract' faction, in an interview with 'Horizon.'

He stated that there are no obstacles from the Armenian government regarding the mine's exploitation, and the ball is in the operators' court. Tunyan noted that construction works will resume by the end of this year.

Addressing the topic of sanctions, Babken Tunyan indicated that the Armenian government would never intentionally make Armenia a transit country for Russia to circumvent Western sanctions, asserting that at present, the risk is minimal that Armenia could also end up under Western sanctions.

Regarding the financial support provided by the Armenian government to the Republic of Artsakh, Tunyan mentioned that the funding amount is included not only in the 2023 state budget program but also in the medium-term spending program, which outlines the main revenue and expenditure directions for the next three years. He insists that the Armenian government is providing adequate financial support to Artsakh as necessary and will continue to do so.
