Grigoryan Calls on CSTO Partners to Provide Clear Assessment of Situation in Nagorno-Karabakh

The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, has called on the CSTO partners to provide a clear and precise assessment of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and to take effective measures to ensure that the 120,000 Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh are not subjected to ethnic cleansing. According to the Security Council office, he addressed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh during a speech at the regular meeting of the Security Council secretaries of CSTO member countries in Belarus.

Grigoryan noted that Azerbaijan continues to pursue a policy of using force or the threat of force and is attempting to undermine the implementation of previously reached agreements. Despite all this, Azerbaijan continues to exacerbate the situation not only along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border but also in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor.

“The fact that Azerbaijan's aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia is not recognized and the attempt to link this to the process of delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is unjustifiable,” emphasized the Secretary of the Security Council.

He stated that it remains a priority for Armenia to establish an international mechanism for the protection of the rights and security of the population in Nagorno-Karabakh.

It is noteworthy that the members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) include Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
