Erdogan Plans to Amend Turkey's Constitution

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced his intention to present proposals for amendments to the constitution to the parliament. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Erdogan stated that Turkey needs a new constitution, which will be the key to the country's further development, and the preparation of a new version of the fundamental law is ongoing.

The Turkish leader has called on all political forces in the country to actively participate in the drafting of the new constitution. Erdogan noted that the current constitution of Turkey was adopted in 1982 and no longer corresponds to the challenges of our time, despite a number of amendments.

“Once again, we will present to the parliament our proposal to amend the constitution, which we have updated before the elections,” Erdogan said in a message to the public after the first meeting of the renewed cabinet of ministers.
