Biden Concerned About Reports of Kakhovka HPP Damage
The Biden administration is deeply concerned about reports of damage to the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant and is seeking to determine the potential ramifications of the incident, Reuters reports, citing a source.
“A representative of the Biden administration stated today that the U.S. is very worried after the dam, controlled by Russia, was breached... and is trying to assess the possible impact,” the publication noted.
The upper part of the Kakhovka HPP was destroyed as a result of shelling that occurred on the night of June 6, but the reservoir was not damaged. Ukrainian forces targeted the plant with missiles from the Olkha multiple launch rocket systems, leading to an uncontrolled water leak.
