Turkey to Deploy Special Forces Battalion to Kosovo at NATO's Request
Turkey will send a special operations forces battalion to Kosovo on June 4-5 at NATO's request. This was announced by Turkey's Ministry of National Defense: “Following the events in Kosovo, at the request of NATO forces command, the battalion of the 65th Mechanized Infantry Brigade will be deployed as a reserve unit that was previously allocated to NATO forces for Kosovo,” the statement read.
Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that the clashes with protesters in northern Kosovo and Metohija on May 29 were initiated not by NATO peacekeeping soldiers, but by the police of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo.
