Protest near Tbilisi Parliament: Several Detained
Members of the "Jiu-ti" ("Determined") movement organized a protest near the Parliament of Georgia yesterday evening. According to tass.ru referring to TV Pirveli, several dozen people participated in the rally, but police intervention lasted several hours.
Police primarily engaged with banners that the protesters were creating on-site. The demonstrators also read articles from the Georgian Constitution to the officers present.
The protesters accused the authorities of pursuing pro-Russian policies. The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced last night that three individuals were detained, while others were released without charges.
The Public Defender of Georgia has called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to act in accordance with the law and to ensure the freedom and rights of peaceful gatherings.
