The Powers of the Policeman Who Assaulted a Minor Have Been Temporarily Suspended

Today, a video was circulated in the media showing the head of the criminal investigation department of the Dilijan police beating a boy. This was reported by the Police of the Republic of Armenia.

“We announce that information was received at the Internal Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the aforementioned incident, which occurred on April 10, 2023, when the head of the criminal investigation department of the Dilijan division of the Tavush regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs assaulted an employee of one of the restaurant complexes in Dilijan.

In connection with the above, on April 14, an internal investigation was initiated at the Internal Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the fact was confirmed. Given that the head of the criminal investigation department might obstruct the investigation while remaining in office, his duties were temporarily suspended on May 5, and the documents collected during the internal investigation have been sent to the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia. The internal investigation is ongoing.”
