U.S. Welcomes Aliyev's Recent Statements on Discussing Amnesty
The United States has praised Prime Minister Pashinyan's commitment to peace and welcomed President Aliyev's recent statements regarding discussions on amnesty. This was stated in a declaration by State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
“We are pleased to see that negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have continued. As Secretary Blinken has said, peace is attainable in the South Caucasus. Recently, we have highly valued Prime Minister Pashinyan's commitment to peace, and we welcome President Aliyev's recent statements about discussing amnesty,” Miller noted.
It is worth mentioning that Aliyev recently issued a statement demanding the dissolution of the parliament in Nagorno-Karabakh. He called on all officials to resign from their posts, calling it “the only way they can receive amnesty.”
The spokesperson's statement also expressed hope that the meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Chișinău would be a constructive step towards resolving these issues through negotiations rather than violence.
