Sotk Mine Operations Halted: Personnel Sent on Mandatory Leave
Due to periodic shelling, operations at the Sotk mine have been suspended. This was announced by the press service of ‘GPM Gold’.
Since the evening of April 14, Azerbaijani armed forces have continuously opened fire towards the Sotk mine. The mine's personnel have repeatedly attempted to carry out their work duties, but their efforts were disrupted by gunfire from various caliber firearms.
No casualties have been reported, and only minor damage has been caused to the equipment.
The constant danger faced by the company’s employees has persisted for over a month. As a result, further work at the open mine has become impossible due to circumstances beyond the company's control. Thus, the company has encountered the influence of insurmountable force (force majeure).
To ensure the safety of the employees, the management of GPM Gold has decided to suspend operations at the open mine and send personnel on mandatory leave.
