Blogger Mikayel Badalyan Sentenced to a Fine of 300,000 Drams
Blogger Mikayel Badalyan's lawyer Erik Aleksanyan stated on his Facebook page that he disagrees with the ruling regarding Badalyan.
“Mikayel Badalyan has been sentenced to a fine of 300,000 drams. We unequivocally disagree with the court's decision and will appeal it through the revision process,” wrote the lawyer.
It is noteworthy that the blogger was charged under Article 259 of the RA Criminal Code (making false reports about terrorism). Badalyan had made false allegations on April 11, 2022, via his Telegram page, claiming that there was a possibility of terrorist acts occurring in Armenia to create an extraordinary situation. He was apprehended and arrested on April 22, 2022, from Freedom Square.
