Presidential Elections in Turkey Conclude
The polling stations for the presidential elections in Turkey have finished their work. Reports TACC.
Immediately after the end of voting, the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey will begin the counting of votes. It is expected that the ban on the publication of preliminary results will be lifted shortly.
The current President Erdoğan traditionally voted in Istanbul, while his rival opposition candidate Kılıçdaroğlu voted in Ankara.
“The results of the second round of the presidential elections in Turkey will be announced sooner than during the voting on May 14,” stated the President of the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey, Ahmed Yener.
To win in the second round, a candidate must gather more than 50% of the votes.
