Borrell Confuses Russian Belgorod with Serbian Capital Belgrade

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, confused the Russian city of Belgorod with the Serbian capital of Belgrade while responding to a journalist's question, TASS reports.

The journalist had asked Borrell about Ukrainian attacks on Russia's Belgorod region. However, Borrell mistakenly referred to the Russian regional center, asking, “What is happening in Belgrade? I cannot comment on what is happening there.”

At this point, his assistant intervened to clarify that the discussion was about the Russian region, not the Serbian capital. After a brief conversation, Borrell reiterated that he had no information on what was happening in Belgorod.

It is worth noting that recently, a Ukrainian sabotage-reconnaissance group had infiltrated Belgorod.
