Widespread Fire in Kazakhstan's State Forest Reserve
A fire caused by dry grass cover has erupted in the "Semei Orman" state forest reserve in Kazakhstan's Altai region, leading to a widespread blaze. As a result, the fire has spread to the territory of the Abai district in Kazakhstan.
According to preliminary reports, the area affected by the fire is 70 hectares, as stated by the regional administration of Kazakhstan. A total of 148 people and 48 pieces of equipment are engaged in firefighting operations.
Currently, there is no threat to populated areas; however, all services are prepared for evacuation.
According to the main directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Altai region, an emergency fire hazard (level 5) will remain in the area from May 23 to May 30, with high fire hazards (level 4) in some places. The agency reports that due to established hot and dry weather conditions, an increase in the number of fires is possible.
