G7 Leaders Promise New Economic Sanctions Against Russia
The leaders of the "Group of Seven" (G7) have pledged to impose new economic sanctions against Russia to "weaken" it due to the lack of access to Western technologies. This was stated in a joint declaration by the G7 leaders, as reported by golosameriki.com.
At the same time, they called on Moscow to end its "illegal, unjustified, and unprovoked aggressive war in Ukraine." It is noted that the leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, and Japan met on Friday in Hiroshima, Japan, to coordinate their policies regarding the Ukrainian conflict.
In the joint statement, G7 members reaffirmed their commitment to provide Ukraine with the necessary financial, humanitarian, military, and diplomatic assistance as needed.
"We are instituting new sanctions and measures that will increase costs to Russia and to those who support its war efforts," the statement read.
The G7 members also noted that they would continue to limit Russia's access to their economies. "We will deprive Russia of G7 countries' technologies, industrial equipment, and services that support its war machine. We will continue to prevent evasion and circumvention of our measures against Russia," the statement concluded.
