Armenia is Working Daily to Enhance Its Defense Capabilities, Says Alen Simonyan
Despite ongoing processes regarding a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, this does not guarantee that potential provocations from Azerbaijan will be deterred. Consequently, Armenia is working daily to enhance its defense capabilities. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, in response to a question regarding whether the peace process is at an impasse.
Simonyan perceives a fairly high risk of new provocations and military actions. “However, to say it is at an impasse, I don’t think is correct. Nevertheless, there is a process; things are not stagnant. Referring to it as an impasse, I believe, is a mistake. However, this does not mean that there is any form of deterrent against another provocation from Azerbaijan. On the contrary, the reality created within these negotiations might be specifically designed to be used for carrying out some provocation,” Simonyan said.
