Ceasefire in Ukraine Would Violate UN Charter, Russia Prepares for Attack: White House
A ceasefire in Ukraine would effectively secure Russia's territorial gains and would constitute a violation of the UN Charter, said White House Press Secretary John Kirby while commenting on the official peace proposal put forth by Beijing for Ukraine.
“Actually, it would allow Russia to use a ceasefire to strengthen its positions in Ukraine, to regroup and reinforce its forces... ahead of resuming attacks,” Kirby stated. He noted that Washington does not believe this would lead to a fair and lasting peace.
