Statement from Artsakh’s Foreign Ministry Regarding Meeting with Azerbaijani Representatives
Meetings between representatives of Azerbaijan and Artsakh may be held with the mediation of Russian peacekeepers, in the same location, focusing on humanitarian, infrastructural, and technical issues, without unnecessary politicization. This is stated in the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh.
In response to the proposal from the Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding holding a meeting between Azerbaijani and Artsakh representatives, we would like to inform that the Republic of Artsakh remains committed to its previously stated position that such meetings can take place under the mediation of Russian peacekeepers, in the same location as on March 1 of this year, focusing on humanitarian, infrastructural, and technical issues, without unnecessary politicization.
At the same time, we report that the closure of the Lachin corridor and the continuation of the humanitarian crisis are unacceptable and do not contribute in any way to creating a favorable atmosphere for negotiations. We are convinced that Azerbaijan must fulfill its obligations undertaken under the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, as well as the requirements of the International Court of Justice, refraining from the use of force or the threat of force and unilateral, maximalist approaches. Only under these conditions will favorable conditions be created for further discussions.
Regarding the political issues of the resolution of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, let us remind that Artsakh is committed to negotiations aimed at a comprehensive resolution of the conflict, which should take place in an internationally recognized and established format, with guarantees for the equal rights of the parties and the fulfillment of their commitments.
