A Unified Ticketing System Will Be Implemented for Both Buses and the Metro, Says Tigran Avinyan

Yerevan's Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan has addressed the ongoing efforts to resolve the capital's transportation issues. According to him, following the removal of the Gazelles from operation, the current number of buses is insufficient to tackle the overall transportation problems in Yerevan.

“Starting this year, we have a winner in implementing a unified ticketing system; a unified ticketing system will be established for both buses and the metro. The operations of the bus and metro networks will be coordinated and brought into a singular strategy. We will probably start having dedicated bus routes this year, which will benefit those using the bus. Buses will not get stuck in traffic, and our goal is to encourage as many people as possible to use public transport, thus alleviating the city's load and reducing traffic congestion,” stated the Deputy Mayor.

“We will install new stops and bus shelters, and most importantly, we will have a management system that we will not complete in full this year. It will provide a simple solution for people: at bus stops and shelters, individuals will clearly know which bus will arrive at what time, enabling them to plan their routes effectively,” he added.
