Armenia Agrees to Continue Negotiations, But Azerbaijan Must First Honor Agreements, Says Pashinyan

Armenia is willing to continue negotiations with Azerbaijan, including in the Brussels format, but Azerbaijan must first fulfill previously reached agreements. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with journalists today.

According to the Prime Minister, there have been more than ten agreements with Azerbaijan during various format meetings, but they have not been implemented. "Let’s start with the launch of the railway, the return of prisoners, the agreement on troop withdrawal, and so on," Pashinyan announced.

Pashinyan emphasized that if Azerbaijan uses negotiations solely to justify escalations, then this is an unacceptable option. "Negotiations should serve as a guarantee of stability. I am ready to take responsibility for signing documents that will not be a dream document, but will also not give a reason to look away," he said.

The Prime Minister believes that the negotiations in Prague were more effective than those in Brussels, but according to him, Baku prefers to work in a less effective format. "If Azerbaijan does not like France's presence in the Prague format, it can also be expanded by inviting, for instance, Germany or the USA," the head of government said.

Pashinyan also mentioned that there is currently no meeting planned between the leaders of the two countries, but added that when there are no negotiations, the risk of escalation increases.
