Iranian Military Aircraft Flies Near State Border of Two Countries; Azerbaijan Sends Protest Note
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has handed a protest note to the Iranian ambassador regarding the flights of an Iranian military aircraft over the state border of the two countries.
The statement released mentions: “On March 11, 2023, a military aircraft belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran conducted continuous flights along the Azerbaijan-Iranian state border from 09:44 to 10:26, in the direction of the Zangelan and Bilasuvar regions. The aircraft flew at a distance of 3-5 kilometers from the state border between the two countries, and in some cases, over the state border itself. Such an approach by the military aircraft of the Islamic Republic of Iran and flights over the state border create threats to civil aviation safety and contribute to the further deterioration of relations between the two countries,” the statement noted.
Today, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Seyid Abbas Mousavi, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, where he was handed the relevant protest note.
