Mother and Son Dead, Daughter Trapped Under Rubble, Father in Hospital: Armenian Victims of Earthquake in Syria
Recently, we reported that two Armenians have died as a result of the earthquake in Syria— a mother and her son. Media sources indicate that in Aleppo, the earthquake claimed the lives of local Armenians, Mirna and Alper Tengkichyan.
“The mother and son have died, the father has had his leg amputated and is currently in the hospital, while efforts are being made to rescue the daughter from under the rubble. The earthquake lasted a long time, and everyone went out into the streets. I just moved to a new house, and the walls have been damaged,” stated Nerses Nersoyan, the secretary of the Armenian General Benevolent Union in Syria.
We remind that powerful earthquakes have occurred today in Turkey and Syria. Reports from Turkey indicate 76 dead and more than 400 injured, while earlier reports from Syria mentioned 42 dead and over 200 injured.
