UN Population Fund Joins Secretary-General's Call for Unblocking of Lachin Corridor
The UN Population Fund has issued a statement indicating its support for the call made by the UN Secretary-General to ease tensions and ensure freedom of movement and security along the Lachin Corridor.
“This is critically important for meeting the basic needs of affected populations, including women and girls, youth, persons with disabilities, and the elderly. Freedom of movement and security in the corridor are vital for ensuring continuous access to essential sexual and reproductive health services and enabling women to give birth safely,” the statement reads.
The UN Population Fund has expressed its willingness to collaborate with all parties in accordance with humanitarian principles to ensure that women and girls, as well as other vulnerable segments of the population, have access to essential goods and services.
