Earthquake on Iran-Turkey Border Felt in Armenia
An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 occurred on the Iran-Turkey border. This information was reported by the Russian service of Sputnik. It was noted that aftershocks were also felt in Armenia.
The spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations informed Auroranews.am that an announcement will be made soon.
Update: The earthquake was registered 20 km northeast of the Iranian city of Salmas. On January 18, at 14:08 local time, the seismic protection service of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations recorded an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 at a depth of 10 km, 20 km northeast of Salmas, Iran. The intensity of the underground shocks in the epicentral zone was rated at 8 points.
The earthquake was felt in the Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions at 3-4 points, and at 2-3 points in the Ararat and Armavir regions, as well as in the city of Yerevan.
