Earth-like Planet Discovered
The James Webb Space Telescope has discovered its first exoplanet. This planet, located approximately 41 light-years away in the constellation Octans, is similar in size to Earth.
Its diameter is about 99% that of Earth, though it is reported to be several hundred degrees warmer than our planet.
Currently, scientists are unable to provide a complete description of the planet. However, it is confirmed that there is no dominant, dense atmosphere of methane, as is the case with Titan, Saturn's moon.
Planets like LHS 475 b have long remained "invisible" to telescopes. Yet, the power of the James Webb has proven capable of not only spotting such celestial bodies but also aiding in their detailed study. Therefore, researchers hope that there will be many more discoveries in the near future.
