Minister of Defense Informed CSTO Joint Staff of Exercise Cancellation on January 5
The CSTO Secretariat announced today that they had not received an official notification from Yerevan regarding the cancellation of military exercises. In an interview with Auroranews.am, Defense Ministry spokesperson Aram Torosyan stated that the head of the CSTO Joint Staff was officially notified in writing on January 5.
“As the Prime Minister stated, considering the current geopolitical situation, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia deemed it inappropriate to hold the 'Indivisible Brotherhood-2023' military exercises in Armenia and officially informed the head of the CSTO Joint Staff in writing on January 5,” said Torosyan.
“On January 10, the press secretary of the CSTO Joint Staff, Vladislav Shegrikovich, informed the media that the Joint Staff received the official letter from the RA Ministry of Defense and is considering the issue of conducting the exercises in the territory of another CSTO member state,” Torosyan added.
