Turkish Parliament Speaker Accuses OSCE Minsk Group of Failing to Resolve Nagorno-Karabakh Issue for 30 Years
Turkey's Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop spoke with reporters during the 13th session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in Antalya. This was reported by Ermenihaber.am.
Responding to a question from a journalist regarding France's position in the UN Security Council concerning the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Sentop blamed Armenia and reminded that Turkey supports Azerbaijan.
"We have made it very clear that from the perspective of international law, Azerbaijan is right regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. At the same time, we have stated that we must not allow the issue here to turn into a threat to regional peace," Sentop said. He also accused the trio of the OSCE Minsk Group of failing to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue for 30 years, describing their efforts as not sufficiently proactive. Now that the issue has entered a resolution phase, according to the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, the countries of the Minsk Group should solely facilitate peace and agreement between the parties.
"We believe that any other approaches would harm regional peace," Sentop concluded.
