Russian Defense Ministry on the Situation in the Lachin Corridor
The Russian peacekeeping forces continue to fulfill their assigned tasks in Nagorno-Karabakh, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. It is noted that the Russian peacekeepers are conducting round-the-clock monitoring of the situation at 30 observation posts and maintaining oversight of the ceasefire regime.
Furthermore, it has been mentioned that the command of the Russian peacekeepers continues the negotiation process with the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides regarding the resumption of uninterrupted vehicular movement along the Stepanakert-Goris road (the Lachin corridor).
“Patrols have been carried out along three routes in the regions of Shusha, Martakert, and Martuni. Continuous cooperation with the General Staffs of the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Armenia is maintained to ensure the safety of Russian peacekeepers and to prevent possible incidents,” the statement reads.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan has been blocking the only road connecting Artsakh to the world, the Lachin corridor, since December 12, using false environmental arguments.
