Negotiations Between Deputy Commander of Russian Peacekeepers and Armenian Activists Underway
Nearby the village of Tegh, negotiations are taking place between the deputy commander of the Russian peacekeeping force, Andrey Volkov, and Armenian activists. The meeting is organized in a restricted format, with four representatives from the Armenian activists participating in discussions with the Russian peacekeepers' representative. The discussions focus on the conditions under which Armenian activists will be able to cross and go to Artsakh.
One of the initiators, Hayk Barseghyan, previously stated, “There is information that Russian border guards, moreover, Azerbaijanis will allow us to pass, but we have a condition: we will demand that the Azerbaijani 'actors' go to the other side of the fence, the Russians will form a barrier, and we will cross without escorts.”
It is reminded that a group of Azerbaijanis has kept the Lachin corridor closed for two weeks under false environmental pretenses. The closure of the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia has led to humanitarian issues; Stepanakert is experiencing shortages of food, medicine, and fuel, and more than 1,000 residents of Artsakh, including children, are unable to return to their homes from Armenia.
