Beijing Eases Coronavirus Restrictions
Shenzhen has announced that it will no longer require negative test results for entry into certain venues and for travel, as reported by Reuters. Despite daily reported cases nearing the highest levels ever recorded, several cities are taking steps to ease coronavirus testing requirements and quarantine rules. This is occurring as China seeks to make its zero-COVID policy more targeted amidst a sharp economic slowdown and public dissatisfaction.
The southern city of Shenzhen has announced that it will no longer require citizens to present negative test results for using public transportation or entering parks. In China’s capital, Beijing, numerous testing booths have been closed as negative test results are no longer required for entry to certain places, such as supermarkets. Starting in two days, negative test results will also not be needed for using the subway.
