What is the Path to Peace According to Putin
Russia has always supported Armenia in ensuring security. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the leaders of the CSTO countries, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“The Russian Federation is doing everything possible for the comprehensive resolution of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” noted the Russian president. According to Putin, Moscow has significant ties with both Yerevan and Baku, and it is impossible to overlook that.
“Undoubtedly, we are all in a rather complicated situation. In general, we are certainly interested in ensuring that the South Caucasus is a peaceful and sustainably developing region. Undoubtedly, the only possible and realistic path to peace is the unambiguous implementation of all the provisions of the well-known joint statements by the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan,” emphasized the Russian president.
He pointed out that it is through the consistent implementation of these agreements regarding the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the unblocking of transport communications, and the resolution of humanitarian issues that a stable resolution of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan is achievable.
It is noteworthy that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that Yerevan will initiate a meeting of the CSTO leaders regarding the situation at the border with Azerbaijan. The organization noted that measures to support Armenia will be discussed at the extraordinary session of the Collective Security Council, as well as the results of the CSTO mission's work.
